Nevada System of Higher Education joins National Association of Higher Education Systems
August 19, 2025

The National Association of Higher Education Systems (NASH) is thrilled to welcome the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) as its newest member! By joining NASH, NSHE aligns with our mission to activate the power of systems through collective action, fostering environments where students and communities can thrive.
Here’s more about the newest system joining our community:
NSHE is comprised of two doctoral-granting research universities (UNLV and UNR, both R1-classified), a state college, four comprehensive community colleges, and a unique environmental research institute (Desert Research Institute – DRI). This diverse structure allows NSHE to serve a wide range of educational and job training needs across Nevada, from cutting-edge research to vocational training, serving over 110,000 students.
The system also strongly commits to student success through programs like the Fostering Success Initiative, which supports students who have experienced foster care and offers them a Foster Youth Fee Waiver. Additionally, it recently secured a four-year grant from NASA to strengthen STEM education and research in Nevada.
Through their membership, NSHE will have access to NASH’s peer-networked and impact-forward communities, proven strategies for addressing complex challenges, system-level research, and opportunities for professional and leadership development.
“Systemness”—the concept that we can achieve far more together than we could individually—is the cornerstone of NASH’s work. The addition of NSHE and its eight institutions, its approach to student success, and its effective programming will help us leverage our collective power to create a more resilient and equitable postsecondary sector.
