Basic Needs programming at Hartnell College aims to address economic insecurity among its predominantly Latinx student population by providing essential support services both on- and off-campus and case management across a wide array of documented need areas through its one-stop resource hub, the SOUL center, and a student market. Supports address: housing; food; healthcare; mental health/wellbeing; transportation; technology; student and academic support services; financial aid; counseling; and links to other public services. Initial outcomes indicate a significant positive impact, with high retention rates among students utilizing the services.
