Why higher ed keeps failing to align on transfer

A recent conversation on LinkedIn, sparked by a Work Shift article on nondegree credentials in the United States, captured something the higher education field has struggled to say plainly. One practitioner described the current landscape as “a big giant hairball” of nondegree credentials, where learners and employers are lost in the tangle. Voluntary qualification registries, data standards and credential-recognition frameworks have proliferated without producing the alignment the field needs.
