Tremayne Price Chief of Staff

Tremayne “Trey” Price serves as Chief of Staff at the National Association of Higher Education Systems (NASH), where he drives strategic alignment and operational excellence across NASH initiatives that advance student success and system-level transformation. In this role, he partners with the NASH president and member systems to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration, manage high-impact organizational projects, and ensure effective engagement and communication across the higher education ecosystem. Guided by a commitment to public service and organizational excellence, Trey is committed to supporting systems that expand opportunity, strengthen governance, and advance the public mission of higher education.

Trey brings more than a decade of leadership experience in higher education strategy, governance, and innovation across the University of Illinois System and the State University of New York (SUNY). He has supported chancellors and presidents in executing mission-critical priorities, guided institutional strategic planning efforts, and led initiatives strengthening policy alignment, governance, and institutional performance. Notably, he coordinated the development of The Public’s University: Optimizing Impact for the Public Good, the University of Illinois System’s strategic framework, and directed UIC’s refresh of its institutional strategic priorities. Trey has also played a pivotal role in executive recruitment and onboarding, helping to identify and integrate more than a dozen senior university leaders systemwide.

He holds a master’s degree in educational administration and a bachelor’s degree in public policy and management from the University at Albany, SUNY, and is pursuing a doctorate in public administration at the University of Illinois Springfield.
