Bruce King Advancing Opportunity Advisor
Bruce King (he/him) has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the area of Equity and Inclusion in Higher Education. He comes to NASH to support the work of the CAO and many teams working on the successful adoption of the Equity Action Framework (EAF) and other planned equity related projects growing from the framework. Bruce’s work with NASH supports the evolution of the EAF including strengthening its strategic mission, and supporting the work of the various advisory groups engaged in the Equity Action Intensive (EAI) projects ensuring the framework can expand across the postsecondary sector. Bruce also advises and consults with Senior Academic Officers and Student Equity and Success leads from across NASH’s system members to plan future action steps, monitor key metrics, and support periodic evaluations of the initiative’s progress.
Bruce, a Chicago native, has been a trusted advisor and senior leader to several higher education institutions including work with the Minnesota State and City Colleges of Chicago System Offices. He has served as the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion at both Elmhurst University and St. Olaf College. At City Colleges of Chicago, Bruce was inaugural Vice Chancellor for Equity. A founding member and charter officer for the National Association for Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), Bruce is both a trusted advisor and thought leader in the areas of equity, inclusion, and access to higher education. Bruce has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa and has participated in both the Institute for Educational Management (IEM) and Management Development Program (MDP) at Harvard University.
