Improving the Impact and Reach of MJC’s Basic Needs Program Modesto Junior College
Modesto Junior College’s Basic Needs Program is dedicated to removing cost as a barrier to higher education by offering support and services to help improve students’ food, housing, health, and basic needs insecurities. MJC’s Basic Needs Program works to combat these financial barriers by operating two Pirates Pantries which provide food and meal vouchers to students, offering Pirate Housing Grants to address housing insecurities and housing emergencies, offering a Basic Needs Grant for basic needs emergencies, providing biweekly groceries to students in need, offering mental health resources, and connecting students with a wealth of campus and community resources to support their needs. Over the past four and a half years, the program has become a centralized, safe space for students to receive the support and assistance that they need from our dedicated personnel.
